Ireland: Survey on Google and geolocation data

US giant Google is under investigation over the processing of its users’ geolocation data, the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) announced on Tuesday.

The Google Privacy Policy describes how we treat data when you use Google‘s products and services, including location data. This page provides additional information about the location data we collect and how you can control it.

Google’s mission is to deliver useful and rewarding experiences in which location data is essential. Whether it’s providing you with driving directions or search results that include items close to you, or information about restaurant opening times, location data improves the relevance and usefulness of Google’s services. Localization information also helps ensure essential functionality of certain products, such as choosing the appropriate language for a website or securing certain Google services.
